I've done a ton of integration work with Microsoft Dynamics GP recently and it's left me frustrated. The common tools, Integration Manager and eConnect still have some frustrating holes. As a result, any third party tools, like SmartConnect, that rely on eConnect have the same limitations.

One of my favorite movies of the 80's is GhostBusters, but the one thing that actually stood out for me during that time was the movie's theme song by the same name, interpreted by Ray Parker, Jr. Part of the lyrics is as follows:

Earlier this month, the newest version of RapidStart Services for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 was released to partners. The tool is delivered as services deployed onto eConnect, with significant upgrades and changes to make it a more robust tool for day-to-day work.

One of the benefits of using the RapidStart tool is a dramatic reduction in implementation time.

Companies get the most out of Microsoft Dynamics GP when they can connect its operational and financial data back to the other parts of the business. Once an organization begins to experience the value of integration, leaders often want to push forward with more. But unless you have the tools to plan and build out the right access to your Dynamics GP data, efforts can become frustratingly slow. Now that you have successfully installed eConnect, we will examine the process of creating an integration to Microsoft Dynamics GP built with Visual Studio and the eConnect .NET API. We will build a sample application, then dig into a few key details of the process that can be applied to any integration of this sort.
